“I know I'm drowning in admin. I just don't know what kind of help I need.”

AI consultancy for small businesses

Find the real problem first, then fix it in a sensible order, so the business stops depending on your evenings.

My AI consultancy for small businesses starts with one question: where does your time go? Once we know, we fix the biggest leaks first, with automation, a dashboard for your numbers, marketing that gets done and training for your team. Start wherever makes sense for you.

Sound familiar?

Working every hour, and still behind

Most owners I talk to aren't short of ambition. They're short of time.

“I get the work done in the day, then do the admin at night.”
“I've missed more of my kids' evenings than I'd like to admit.”
“Every system we have needs the same details typed in again.”
“If I'm off for a week, everything stops.”

That last one is the real problem. If everything stops when you stop, you've built a job, not a business. The services on this page are how I help you change that, one step at a time.

The system behind it

See where the time goes, then put it on systems

This is the approach that took me from 60 to 70-hour weeks to a firm four to five times the size it was when I started, and I don't work like that any more. The whole story is on my About page.

  1. See where the time goes

Your figures, your software and how the week really runs, pulled into one place. The system does the heavy lifting, so you don't spend months on it as I did.

  2. Find the real problem

The repeat work, the leaks and the bottlenecks that cost you the most time and money, in order.

  3. Put the repeat work on systems

Automation, dashboards, AI content and training, starting with whatever frees up the most time.

  4. Spend the hours on the business

The time you win back goes on clients, referrals and the work only you can do. And on your evenings.

The readiness assessment covers steps one and two. Business automation, business dashboards, AI content creation and AI training cover step three. Step four is yours. The principles apply to any business, but every business is different, so I can't promise a particular result.

Which service do I need?

Start with the AI readiness assessment if you're losing time but can't say where. Choose business automation for jobs you want off your plate, a business dashboard if you can't see your numbers, and AI content creation if marketing never gets done. AI training suits a team using AI. Not sure? The free call will tell us.

Straight about AI

What am I actually paying for?

My consultancy: my time, skill and advice. You're not buying a software product or a licence. I help you design and build automations and AI tools on software you hold the accounts for, test everything before I hand it over, and you own it once it's paid for. There's no lock-in and no commission.

AI can be confidently wrong, and software companies change their products without asking. So I can't promise anything will be 100% right, and I'd be wary of anyone who does. What I can promise is that we build the checks in, and nothing goes live until you've tried it and signed it off.

Who does what
StageWhat I doWhat you do
Design and buildMap the job, then build it on your own accountsTell me how the work gets done, and make the decisions
TestingTest everything before handover, with test data wherever possible. It's part of the service, not an extra.Try it yourself with your own examples
Sign-offWalk you through it and write down how it works, including the off switchSign it off only when you're happy it does what we agreed
In usePut right anything that doesn't do what we agreed, within 14 days of handoverKeep a person checking anything that goes to customers or affects money
Your dataBusiness versions of AI tools, test data, and a written data processing agreement when neededDecide which tools and data I may use, on a plain-English AI notice

In writing, before we start. Every proposal comes with my terms of business, a plain-English AI notice for you to sign, and a short handover form for each piece of work. No surprises in the small print.

What affects the cost of AI and automation work?

The size of the job, not the size of your business. A single automation using software you already have is a small piece of work. Connecting several systems, or training a whole team, takes longer. You'll always get a clear written price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

These are the things that make the biggest difference:

  • How many processes we're changing, and how tangled they are today.
  • How many systems need to talk to each other, such as your email, accounts package and CRM.
  • Whether you need any new software. Its monthly cost is set by the supplier, and I'll show it to you first.
  • How many people need training, and whether you want ongoing support afterwards.

Many small businesses already pay for more than they use. For example, some Microsoft 365 plans include Power Automate for standard connections such as Outlook, SharePoint and Excel. Using what you have keeps running costs down.

Tell me the job you'd most like to stop doing, and I'll tell you what it would take.

Where do you work?

I'm based in Eastbourne and work with businesses across East Sussex, including Hastings, Bexhill, Battle, Hailsham, Polegate, Seaford and Lewes. I also cover Brighton, West Sussex and the Kent border up to Tunbridge Wells. First meetings are usually in person, and much of the work can be done by video.

Questions people ask

Questions about my services

Can you work with the software we already use?

Usually, yes. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Xero, QuickBooks and most popular CRM and job-management systems can be connected. If something can't be connected sensibly, I'll tell you before you spend anything.

Do you sell software?

No. You're paying for my consultancy, not a product. I recommend whatever fits your business best, which is often something you already pay for, and I take no commission from any software company.

Can you guarantee it will be 100% right?

No, and be wary of anyone who says they can. AI makes mistakes and software changes. I test everything before I hand it over, and I'll put right anything that doesn't do what we agreed within 14 days. You check it and sign it off before it goes live.

How long does it take?

A single automation can often be running within days. A readiness assessment or a larger project takes a few weeks. You'll get a timetable with your written price.

What happens when the work is finished?

You get written instructions for everything I've built, and your team knows how to use it. You can keep me on for support, or not. Either way, you own it.

Not sure where to start? We'll work it out.

That's normal. Book a free 30-minute call and we'll work it out together. You can also read more about me first.
