“It's the busy season again, and I'm doing bookings and rotas at midnight.”

AI consultant in Eastbourne. This is where I'm based.

More time for guests, residents and customers, with the routine admin running itself.

I'm Daniel Andrews, and I've been there. For years I worked 60 to 70 hours a week, often until 2am, before I put my firm on systems. Now I help Eastbourne businesses get their time back with AI and automation, set up safely and explained in plain English. I'll come to your premises anywhere in town, or we can talk by video.

Running a business in Eastbourne is busy enough

“In summer the booking emails never stop.”
“Our manager spends half the week on rotas and paperwork.”
“My quotes go out days late because I'm on site all day.”
“I'd rather work with someone local I can actually sit down with.”

Two things stand out. Hotels, cafés and restaurants make up 10.9% of Eastbourne businesses, against 6.2% across England. Health and care businesses, the ONS group that includes practices, care homes and home care, make up 7.3%, against 4.4%.

The county's economic strategy describes Eastbourne as a retail and service centre with a growing number of digital tech businesses. It also expects basic IT skills to matter more in health and social care and the visitor economy. In both, a few well-chosen automations can take a lot of the repeat work away.

Where can AI and automation help Eastbourne businesses?

Mostly in the jobs that repeat every day. For hotels and restaurants, that's bookings, enquiries and review replies, and for care providers it's rotas, reminders and the paperwork around them. For trades, it's quotes and invoices; for offices, letters, meeting notes and reports. A person stays in charge of anything that matters.

Eastbourne's main sectors and where the time goes
Sector (share of local firms)Where the time goesWhat usually helps
Construction and trades (15.6%)Quotes written at night, chasing paymentQuotes drafted from your site notes; invoice reminders that stop once paid
Professional services (14.8%)Letters, proposals and file notesAI drafting inside Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, checked before sending
Hotels, cafés and restaurants (10.9%)Booking emails, the same questions, reviewsReplies drafted in your tone; a review request sent after each stay or visit
Retail (7.5%)Stock checks, online orders, social postsLow-stock alerts, order updates sent automatically, post drafts to approve
Health and care (7.3%)Rotas, reminders, policies and training recordsRota and reminder automations; AI help with policies and letters, never with personal health details in a free tool

A word on care and health data. The ICO treats information about someone's health as special category data under UK GDPR, which needs extra protection. So care notes don't belong in a free AI tool. I design with that in mind, but this is practical guidance, not legal advice, so check your own situation with your data protection adviser.

To see how the pieces fit together, my page on business automation shows the tools I use. For hotels, cafés and restaurants, AI in hospitality goes deeper.

Why me

I built it in my own firm first

If everything stops when you stop, you've built a job, not a business. That was me. The systems I've put in since have helped my firm grow to four to five times the size it was when I started.

It's a two-office law firm in East Sussex with around 30 people, and I'm the Managing Partner. I've also been a BNI member for 20 years, so I've spent a lot of early mornings with local business owners.

My consultancy is new, so I can't show you Eastbourne clients yet. What I can show you is what already runs in my own firm, where confidentiality matters every day.

  • A live reporting dashboard that pulls figures from our case management system.
  • Task hand-offs between colleagues, with approvals and one-click sign-off.
  • An AI-assisted marketing workflow with automatic checks before a person approves.

What free business support is there in Eastbourne?

Quite a lot, and most of it is in town. Edeal gives free, impartial business advice funded by Eastbourne Borough Council, and the Business & IP Centre at Eastbourne Library offers one-to-one help. The East Sussex Growth Hub runs free programmes, including digital skills workshops. For networking, the Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce is open to members.

  • Edeal: a not-for-profit enterprise agency offering free start-up and business support in Eastbourne.
  • BIPC Sussex at Eastbourne Library: business databases, market research and one-to-one expert advice.
  • East Sussex Growth Hub: free programmes, including Build & Thrive Step Up: Ltd for Eastbourne sole traders thinking about becoming a limited company.
  • Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce: a membership organisation with breakfasts, lunches, workshops and a member directory.

Use them. If a free workshop gives you ideas and you want someone to build them into your business, that's where I come in. The rest of the county is on my areas page.

Can we meet in person in Eastbourne?

Yes, and I'd recommend it for the first proper meeting. I'll come to your premises anywhere in Eastbourne, from Meads and the town centre to Hampden Park, Langney and Sovereign Harbour. I also cover Polegate and Hailsham. After that, most of the building happens remotely, with short video check-ins.

It starts with a free call. If you're not sure where the time goes, the next step is usually an AI readiness assessment. If your team is already using AI, AI training makes it safer and more useful.

Questions people ask

Questions from Eastbourne businesses

Do you work with hotels and guest houses?

Yes. Enquiries, booking confirmations, pre-arrival emails and review requests are all good candidates. I usually start with the booking and email systems you already use, so there's nothing new for your team to learn.

Can you help a care provider without risking client data?

Yes, carefully. I start with the admin that doesn't need health details, such as rotas, reminders and training records. Anything touching personal data is designed with UK GDPR in mind and checked with you first. This is practical help, not legal advice.

Is my business too small for AI?

Probably not. Most Eastbourne businesses have fewer than 10 staff. For a small team, one or two well-chosen automations can take a real chunk out of the week, often using software you already pay for.

Do you cover Polegate and Hailsham?

Yes. They're in Wealden rather than Eastbourne, but they're on my doorstep. I also work across the rest of East Sussex and in Brighton and Hove.

Where can I learn about AI for free in Eastbourne?

The East Sussex Growth Hub runs free workshops and webinars, and the Business & IP Centre at Eastbourne Library has free resources. The government's AI Skills Hub also offers free AI foundations courses online.
